PARAINEN, Finland: Since its establishment in 1973, LM-Dental has been known for innovative, ergonomic and convenient dental instruments. Over the past years, it has produced more than ten million hand instruments, all of which were designed and manufactured in Finland. These instruments are used by dental professionals all over the world today. At the 40th International Dental Show (IDS), which will open its doors tomorrow, the company is celebrating an important anniversary too—50 years of LM-Dental.
LM-Dental was founded by dentists driven by a desire to improve the quality of dental instruments. Over the years, the business developed from a small dental instruments shop based in the south-west of Finland into a high-tech pioneer in instrument ergonomics that utilises robotics to develop and produce the most advanced dental instruments on the market. Today, LM-Dental has more than 100 employees and is part of the Planmeca Group.
Since the beginning, an innovative attitude towards ergonomics has been the guiding light for LM-Dental’s product development. LM-Dental produced the first dental hand instruments with thicker ergonomically designed handles in 1974. In 1980, the introduction of the company’s first colour-coded handles for easy identification set the standard for the entire industry.
In the late 1980s, LM-Dental became a pioneer in its field when the company introduced a silicone-handled instrument, which was continuously improved over the subsequent years. The same high standards of innovation are also applied to other product offerings, including ultrasonic devices and orthodontic appliances.
LM-Dental owes its current position as an industry forerunner to its professional dealer network and partners. For a number of years, LM-Dental has had strong partnerships with many clinicians in the dental industry. These collaborations helped inspire and develop new products and contributed to their success. Additionally, clinicians actively participate in the sales and marketing of LM-Dental products by providing training and education on various treatments and techniques. The close collaboration with clinicians has been and will continue to be a key factor in LM-Dental’s success.
At IDS 2023, LM-Dental will be introducing LM-Arte Replica Posterior, the latest additions to its LM-Arte instrument range for aesthetic restorations, which was developed together with Style Italiano, a study group of passionate clinicians and researchers specialising in aesthetic dentistry. This instrument is designed to simplify occlusal modeling of posterior teeth in direct composite restorations. Additionally, the company will be presenting the LM-Arte Dark Diamond edition for smooth and precise non-stick placement and sculpting of composite resins. Moreover, LM-Dental will be showcasing the LM-Dental Tracking System, which allows for the efficient tracking and monitoring of dental instruments, handpieces and materials from different manufacturers using an advanced radio-frequency identification technology. Also on display will be the LM-Activator, an orthodontic appliance designed to support the healthy growth and development of the face and jaw during the mixed dentition stage.
The aim of LM-Dental has always been to make dental care safe, efficient and as pleasant as possible for dental professionals, students and patients. LM-Dental’s high-tech robotic production technology combined with Nordic craftsmanship and dedication to manufacturing excellence ensures that all the products are precise, reliable and safe. As the company continues to grow, it will maintain the focus on innovation, continuous improvement and high manufacturing standards that has been the basis of its success.
IDS visitors will have th opportunity to learn more about LM-Arte instruments at Booth C018 in Hall 1.2. From Tuesday to Friday, Style Italiano clinical experts will be giving demonstrations at the stand. More information can be found at lm-dental.com.
